Geography: Extending 283.561 km2, Ecuador’s geography has been shaped by the presence of the Andes Mountain range, which crosses the country from north to south. In the Western Mountains, the maximum elevation is Mt. Chimborazo at 6.272 meters. In the Eastern Mountains, there are also impressive views, including Antisana, Cayambé and Cotopaxi, which at 5.943 meters, is the world’s highest volcano.
Climate: The climate is warm in the west, with marked aridity in the meridional sector, warm climate in the altiplanic lowlands (15°C, on average), which decreases noticeably in the Andean highlands, which in addition have abundant rainfall (4.000 mm annually); and a humid and rainy climate in the East.
